We will be following the government's recommendation for safety and precautions in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We require anyone entering the academy to submit to a temperature check, as well as sanitizing and/or washing hands, and to also follow social-distancing measures.

Sanitation/Disinfection measures are enforced daily. The academy also utilizes a professional disinfection company to help disinfect and sanitize the premises on a regular basis.

Staff, students, clients, and any visitors must adhere to our COVID-19 safety precautions. All entries must wear a face mask, sanitize, and practice social distancing while on site.

Our Mission

Pittsburgh Multicultural Cosmetology Academy is committed to a high standard in total curriculum and preparation for employment to all students. The school will prepare students to sit for the Pennsylvania State Board Exam, receive state licensure, and find gainful employment as an entry level Cosmetologist, Natural Hair Braider, or Instructor and begin ona path to a successful future.

Our School

The Pittsburgh Multicultural Cosmetology Academy is a State Licensed Cosmetology School, founded in 2008. We are a Federally Accredited Institution. We are located in beautiful downtown Pittsburgh. We offer 3 programs for state licensure: Cosmetology, Professional Instructor, and Natural Hair Braider. Class size is kept small so that instructors can give each student the attention they need to learn fundamentals of cosmetology. Our school provides students with a thorough knowledge of all textures and wave patterns of hair, and how to properly care for any individuals hair from naturally straight to naturally kinky curly. Upon graduating you will gain the practical skills to perform, haircutting, styling, coloring, braiding, weaving, esthetics & makeup, chemical texture services and much more on any client walking through your salon door. Combined with classes on business management, professional image, communication, and career development, you will be prepared to begin one of the most exciting and rewarding careers.

COURSES

Cosmetology - 1260 hours
This course includes the interweaving of the practical art, cosmetics science and multicultural academic and practical subject matter in cosmetology. This method provides the student with a broader range of experiences more adaptable to the current diverse population. Properly conceived, it will assist the individual in obtaining their personal objectives and become proficient in the science of cosmetology thereby creating a progressive and socially aware cosmetologist. It also focuses on the competencies to pass the PA Cosmetology State Board Examination.

Natural Hair Braiding - 315 hours
Our natural hair braiding program includes the detailed combination of cosmetic science, academic subject matter, theoretical subjects, and the practical art of braiding natural hair includes methods of French braids, cornrows, twists, dreads, and other natural hairstyles that popularized in today's trendy fashion world. Properly conceived, it will assist the student to pass the competencies required by the State Board of Cosmetology and obtain a license in professional Natural Hair Braiding that will allow you to work in a salon.

Instructor - 630 hours
Our cosmetology instructor program includes the study of educational terms, practical skills, and teaching methodology to aid in the proficiency of teaching various cosmetology subjects, including salon and school business management, thus creating a knowledgeable and effective cosmetology instructor. The student instructor will also have demonstrated competencies to pass the Pa Cosmetology Teacher State Examination.
